Gifted and Talented Application Information

P.S. 163 offers a monolingual (English-only) Gifted and Talented program, beginning in kindergarten. Applications to our G&T program are handled through the Department of Education. If you are interested in a G&T program, you must submit a Request for Testing (RFT) Form by October 28, 2011. For more information on the G&T application process, please consult the G&T Handbook http://schools.nyc.gov/Academics/GiftedandTalented/default.htm

The DOE administers testing to determine eligible students for G&T programs. Testing is available for all pre-Kindergarten through Grade 2 students. The DOE identifies gifted students as those children who perform at or above the 90th percentile on these assessments. Students scoring at or above the 90th percentile are eligible for district G&T programs. Students scoring at or above the 97th percentile are eligible for placement to district G&T programs as well as to citywide G&T programs.
